Motorola MPx: worth waiting for?

I was all set to order an Orange SPV C500 when I read a very favourable review of the (forthcoming) Motorola MPx, and am wondering whether I should wait for that.

The advantage would seem to be that it has built-in Wi-Fi and runs Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, but on the other hand it's liable to be expensive: £300 is the quoted price with contract, though no doubt it'll be able to sought out for less.

But is it worth it, or should I stick to the C500 as I'd originally planned? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

According to me.. its worth waiting for the Mpx..Atleast I am doing the same :)..

Thanks, Maverick, that's interesting. Any particular reason(s) that made you decide it was worth waiting for? The review I read at the weekend, in What Cellphone, was very favourable, but one in ZDNet UK (at http://reviews.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/handhe...9164765,00.htm) was rather less so, which has made me wonder.

Not sure: the Motorola UK website says nothing on the MPx (or if it does, I can't find it), other sources say October or thereabouts.

The MPx is slated for the start of 2005... that's a fair wait!

I've used one (in fact, a fair few different incarnations of it), and it's quite a nice device.

My thoughts on the good points:

- QWERTY keyboard

- WIFI

- 1.3MP Camera (See below)

Bad points:

- Not that big, but still big compared to the C500

- Battery life unknown

- Camera needs to be better than the MPx220!

- Screen quite small for touch screen use

Only time will tell, but I would be inclined to say get what you want TODAY, you can always flog it and buy an MPx later :)

I think you're right there: you can wait forever if you're looking for the Next Good Thing - only to find that, when it does become available, that there's something else that may be even better on the horizon.

So I think it's the C500 for me after all . . .

I think I am going to wait for the MPx, unless something else takes my fancy before hand.
