Guest britgamer Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 Hi I've had my C500 just over a week now and have just noticed my caller ID doesn't seem to work :) I've taken pictures with my camera as Photo ID, saved them as Caller ID Photo, chosen the contact and assigned the photo. But when the contact calls me the orange stripe thingy is shown instead of my photo! Even though when I look in caller ID it shows the picture as being assigned to the contact! Can anyone help?
Guest britgamer Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 I've found out today that my caller ID works with some contacts but not others :? Im guessing now that its just my phone being fussy about who it wants pictures of in a way that only a HTC phone can
Guest Thurstan Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 I had this problem - resolved it by assigning photos to callers by going through Multimedia Album, which then launches Caller ID. Seems a long way around but it works.
Guest Dr Who Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Trouble is using multimedia album or camera can cause the phone to crash when it tries to open the CallerID app (when you do 'save as' Caller ID). Not sure why it should work with some but not others - have heard it mentioned that it may not work with photos stored on the storage card, only ones stored in the phone memory? Or perhaps it had to be a specific folder?
Guest FosterJ Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 I get a problem when assigning a photo to a contact that even tho I select for it just to show the picture of the person it seems to default back to a little crab running around like a nutter on a beach next to the picture of my contact.
Guest Dr Who Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 It's a bit anti-intuitive but rather than using 'assign photo' in caller ID you need to press 'next' instead. This seems to work.
Guest britgamer Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Hmm im still having no luck with some of the contacts. I've tried assigning them through caller ID and through multimedia album but still no luck. Also all the images are in the my photos folder on the phone. I've also tried putting them in the caller ID photos folder but still no luck. I guess I'll just leave it now its not really worth the effort of getting it to work.I don't need a reminder of what my friends luck like, well not often anyway
Guest Dr Who Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 That is strange britgamer. If you have a look at file sizes are the ones that aren't working particularly larger (higher res) or smaller (lower res) than the ones that do work. Or is it utterly random?
Guest britgamer Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 It seems totally random to me. All the photos are at the same resolution and are taken as caller ID pictures, but they have different file sizes (I guess this is affected by the amount of different colours etc in the photo). Some of the very small files (5kb or so) work and some don't and the same happens with larger files (15kb or so) I think part of the problem may be I'm mainly testing the photos with one contact (my other mobile) and so if it is something to do with that number then no matter what I do it won't work. I will try and use as many other contacts as I can tomorrow to sort this out. One of the contacts that didn't work yesterday has started to today just to further confuse things further! PS thanks for all the help so far its much apperciated even if I don't seem to be getting anywhere
Guest britgamer Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 I feel SOOO stupid  The reason that one contact wouldn't work was because I entered the number wrong #-o I think my caller ID is ok now as I re-did the contact that didn't work before but does now the way you suggested so it must of been how I was doing it. Thankyou for your help everyone and sorry for wasting your time towards the end
Guest smason5 Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 I had the same problems last night but my contact details were all correct. I didn't know what to do so I turned the phone off and then back on again and would you believe it, all was working again. It's Windows I guess. Stuart
Guest TimJBart Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 yeh windows seems to get confused because the caller id is a thrid party ap.. I used the technique suggested in this thread of going to the multimedia album and assigning it through that...although it does crash every now and again.
