Synching contacts from Oulook 2002 to C500

Before getting the C500 I never used MS Outlook at all so I'm totally new to this program. I loaded it from the software cd supplied with the phone.

A problem I'm facing is that all the tel # on my phone have been saved with the international dialling prefixes e.g. +441234567890 (where +44 is the code for UK).

However when I sync with Outlook it deletes the '+'.

Is there any settings I have to modify either in Outlook itself or the phone, to stop this from happening.
