Guest cowboyshaw Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 I've just got my lovely new C500, though I am unable to sync it with Outlook. It simply states 'sycnronisation cannot be completed successfully. disconnect your device and try again...'. I've tried troubleshooting with the following modifications: 1. I have set all options (email, tasks, contacts) to unselect, but it still produces the same error at the same point. 2. It detects fine using USB - Activesync states device is 'connected' 3. Have run 'detect and repair' in Outlook 4. Have unticked all non-essential options in Activesync (i.e. only USB connect is specified) I do have a few phone apps (codewallet, smartnotes, powertasks) which were installed on my old E100, which I haven't changed. They are not installed on the new phone - its a clean build. Any ideas folks? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks kindly, Mike
Guest Dr Who Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Have you tried deleting your old E100 partnership?
Guest cowboyshaw Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Hey Doc, thanks for the reply, Yip, I have deleted old partnership, and created a new one for the c500. Have also tried creating one that syncs with only this PC, one that syncs with 2 PC's etc. Still no joy. Anyone else? Thanks, Mike
Guest Dr Who Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 Other option that seems to cure activesync problems is the hard reset option (or clear storage from accessories since your phone is booting). I think there is an activesync file on your phone as well - don't know if anyone knows what it is called so you can delete that and see if it works? BTW you haven't used Orange Restore to get data back onto your phone have you? If you have you will have to hard reset your phone because it seems the data returned by Restore is not able to sync with Outlook.
Guest cowboyshaw Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 Thanks Doc, Tried your hints to no avail. I searched on various sync issues and found some people had vaguely similar problems caused by Nortons Internet Security. So, I took a chance and disabled it, and it worked. Phone sync's 100% no problem once the app was disabled. I've removed it completely and will need to look into another Internet Security Application. Many thanks for your help and advise. Its much appreciated. Mike
