o2 xphone smart phone! Device password needs to be reset!

my sibling has forgotten the device password on his xphone from o2! is there an software that couls reset this pasword? pls advice?

If it's the device lock password then you should be able to clear it using a hard reset of the phone. Note that a hard reset will restore the phone to it's original condition so you will lose anything that you have saved on the phone itself , i.e homescreen, contacts, ringtones etc..
