Guest nixy Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 07:39 Tuesday 07 2004 There is a meeting next month between Ericsson and another rather large mobile comms giant. This meetings main point of focus is in discussing further a new non line of sight development principle and agree on the specification and technical layout. Its also been suggested that Nokia may also take part in the talks following rumours regarding new tests and trials within the US and Canadian military. The military has already shown a strong interest for its use in open surveillence, combat and logistics. This new development has shown in principle that its usage, purpose and ability is likely to make bluetooth,IR and the Intel Centrino technology completely superfluous/defunk. Adoption of this technology from so many already interested agencies could indeed lay to rest any confusion as to which technology will survive the soon to explode communication timebomb. The only technical details available to date are as follow: Coded as "A.R.I.A" Transmits and recieves on separate frequencies/channels. Will be developed to work side by side with both Cellular phones and Laptop/Notebook/PDA. It is non line of sight and has been proven to be effective up to 1.5 km
