What model of phone are you using ?

Are you talking about a built in radio or streaming radio :?

FM coverage and cell coverage are radio waves (with different frequencies) and are affected by tall buildings, mountains etc. You were probably in area of poor coverage (in a city surrounded by large high buildings).

But you can have one and not the other, its not connected to your supplier in anyway.

Welcome to the forum :)

Smartphones do not have a radio built in. You cannot receive FM stations, nor MW or LW.

You could listen to internet radio stations but the GPRS costs would be very expensive.

"Radio" refers to the phone signal receiver / transmitter

Guys is there any good programs out there to listen to streamed radio stations?

Zain [PRO], You can use Windows Media Player to play streamimg radio - Click HERE from the SPV to try it out :) We could do with an updated list of radio station URL's as some of the older ones don't work anymore :P

BTW I was thinking that since it was BrightClarita's first post they might not actually have an MS smartphone - could be another phone :? Also it could be related to a blackspot area for all radio reception.

Phone designers should really consider FM recievers in new models, it'd be a great little extra for a phone and its not exactly big on space consumption!

One of my Nokia phones have an FM radio built in. I never, ever use it. The reception is horrible unless you are standing under the broadcast tower. However, to be fair, I have to admit, in the car or at home I don't use FM either. After I started driving 2 hours one way to work, I started listening to AM radio only and I doubt I'd use that if it were on my phone.
