Warranty question - buying phone from eBay

If, and it's a big IF, I buy a phone (C500 is what I am looking to buy) from eBay, and it IS (really is) brand new. Where do I stand with Orange if it goes wrong? :oops:

When I phone them and ask for repair or whatever are they just gonna laugh at me? :?:

yep, the only warranty would be direct with htc (who have a uk repair center).

Orange MAY add the handset onto an existing care contract.. but i don't know about that..
