i600 and active sync with pc

I am new to Active sync came over from palm OS

Kind of lost here. Am using active sync version 3.7.1 I can sync via USB but it wont stay connected it disconnects, The only way to reconnect is to remove from the cradle and put it back. I have active sync set to sync continuiously. I also run my network on a Domain win 2k server for DC and XP Pro work stations, I am unable to sync to pc.

Get error unable to connect verify dialup and proxy settings.

I have no proxy but am behind a nat firewall just for testing I forwarded ports 5678 & 5679 also 990 & 999 same error Turned off the xp firewall same. Any ideas. What am I missing?
