Guest fallwood Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 I am looking for some software to view tiff files attached to emails from my fax forwarding service. If i try to open the attachement it states that no program can be found to view this file type, I cant seem to save the attachement for viewing through a picture viewer so need some sofware that integrates into the system. Does anyone know of anything suitable.
Guest ferret Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Have you tried registering the tiff extension to the album application using Smart Explorer? You never know, it might work ...
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Easiest way is to use Smart Explorer: > File > 1 Open > 4 Manage File Types > Menu > 1 Add file type > Extension: .tif > Command to execute: "WindowsAlbum.exe" (if you click in the field it lets you choose the file and includes the quotes) > Done You should be able to do it with PHM Registry Editor, but I can't see how you add the details in there TBH I've just cancelled my old fax service so I can't easily test it, but it should work - whether the Album can display TIFs or not is the next question!
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Nah, doesn't work Also... don't set it to use Iexplore.exe for tif's cos it hangs the phone trying to load it! :ooops: I guess that the lack of a TIF association means that there is no built-in app that can handle them. What about trying a picture editor? Or ClearVue? The trouble I always had in the past was being able to scroll around the page to read it. So you really want an app with zoom and scroll features.
Guest ferret Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Nah, doesn't work Ah well, back to the drawing board. ps, where did people go to before the drawing board was invented?
Guest Disco Stu Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Yeah, we used to engrave it all on the cave walls....it wus moiduh ! Not sure if either ClearVue ; http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDet...Search=clearvue or Orneta ; http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDet...xtSearch=orneta ..can handle tiff files, but you could try
Guest fallwood Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Got it sussed , installed resco photo viewer which suppports tif, uploaded a tif file to the phone and assigned it to photo viewer in file explorer, now when i open a tif extension it opens it up in photo viewer. guess ill have to buy it now as its only a 30 day trial.
