Guest karl_woodbridge Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 Is there anyway to keep Messenger permanently connected? It seems to be okay until the keylock is activated and then it auto logs out. I've tried ticking the box to 'sign in everytime connection is available' but this doesn't seem to make any difference. Thanks!
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 If you plug the phone into the PC for ActiveSunk, or your make or receive a call, GPRS gets temporarily suspended As soon as that happens Messenger throws you back to the Sign In page Even with the GPRS always-on tweak it kicks you off if you plug in (haven't tested making a call come to think of it) It's just kinda poor. Do any of the 3rd party apps get around this?
Guest crafty Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 It sounds like you're dropping your GPRS connection when you press the end key. Not sure if this'll help but you could try using smartease shell config to set GPRS to never timeout. EDIT: Not sure what happened to that link but you'll need to add ".cab" to the end of the file.
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 That's the thing I meant, well done crafty! It fixes part of the problem, but it doesn't fix the whole thing.
Guest Br1an_g Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 not wanting to hijack this thread but i keep getting a Service Unavailable message when trying to sign into messenger.. this is my first smart phone so not sure what to check.. any help
Guest inspectorgadjet Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 If you hold down the hangup key to turn keylock on your gprs session will be disconnected. However, if you push the power button briefly and choose keylock from the quick list, it will not disconnect your gprs and your messenger will remain signed in.
