Guest red-dragon Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Hi everyone! I have an I-mate smartphone –1 with 2002 OS in Vancouver. I used it in Middle east for quite a while without any problem. As it’s specs say it’s a tri band so it should support 1900 MHz frequency making it workable in North America. But it wouldn’t work in Vancouver! I have contacted the service providers like Fido and Roger’s persons and they have tried working sims of their respective networks but phone doesn’t seem to recognize the network and gives following message. Network denied….. searching. Nothing happens afterwards. Fido and Roger’s people don’t know much about this problem. They say that either the phone is dual band (which apparently doesn’t seem to be the case considering the specs available at this page http://www.imate.com/facts.php?id=2) or phone is network locked. One of them tried to manually change the frequency by going to Settings-Telephony-GSM but it doesn’t seem to have 1900 MHz option. I am quite disappointed as I really liked the functions of this toy would really regret not using it. :) Help from anyone is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Guest martin Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 You need to go to Settings-Telephony-Band Selection and set it to PCS. PCS is GSM1900 :) Alse check Setting-Telephony-Networks and make sure it's set to Automatic. Hope it helps. Posted from my SmartPhone!
