Guest Zidane29 Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 A friend of a friend sent me a MMS message which apparently contained some voice recordings. The message had a amr file extension and when I went to play it a message popped up saying there is no application associated with said file, run the application first and then open this file inside the application. Anybody know what application I need to open the file? I tried looking for it using Smart Explorer EN but I couldn't find the file.
Guest martin Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 What type of phone do you have ? I often played them through Sound Manager on the original SPV but I don't think that application is available on the C500 :) You should be still able to play them through the MMS application though.
Guest sb121069 Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 Can you use amr files as ring tones on the c500 and if so how? Thanks
Guest martin Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 Can you use amr files as ring tones on the c500 and if so how? Thanks I'm afraid not :) It's WAV and WMA files only but that's still cool 8)
Guest jbrare Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 Neither the E200 or C500 support AMR files. It won't play, record or attach them to MMS's. The MMS client on the E200 is total flared pants!! I wanted this feature as I do often attach sound to MMS's and get quite a few with sound in them...so I updated my E200 to the Imate rom which has the Arcsoft MMS client installed as part of the rom which DOES fully support AMR!! Wicked!!!! If you've got an E200 update your rom to imate, if you've got the C500........wait a while.........and install the Imate rom when available!! JB
Guest ha107900 Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 Jabre, where can i get the imate e200 rom from? cheers
Guest jbrare Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 I got the link from a previous posts here on MoDaCo. All the instructions were with it such as how to use Florins fixed.exe to use with the rom file and where to place things before running the updater, believe me it becomes clear when you find the post. Also all the settings for MMS client and GPRS for Orange UK are there as well, some have problems with MMS after updating but mines been floorless in working........and with sound recording/playback in AMR format!!!!! :)    :D Other operator settings are also posted on here. Do a search and all will be revealed. Hope this helps and may the force be with you! JB EDIT - Goto the link below. This is the ROM file, do a search for Florins fixed.exe. I think from memory you unzip the downloaded rom into a folder, copy fixed.exe into the folder and use that as the EXE to kick off the update installer. I think it fools the E200 into allowing a foreign rom to be installed onto it. I think it only works with bootloader 1.07. Put the E200 into it's cradle when in Canary mode i.e. bootloader mode (with power off on the phone hold down power and record buttons together on the side, this puts the phone into bootloader mode. The number 1.07 should be displayed if you have the correct bootloader version, mine was so fixed.exe worked perfect. Don't run the updater with the phone booted up and working, put it into bootloader mode then place it in the cradle. Windows picks it up as a USB device then just run the fixed.exe that is in the same folder as the rom files. All the above is from memory so apiologies if bits are missing. Do a search anyway though, loadsa info on here about it. http://www.clubimate.com/Support/RUUv2.60I...v1.11.15.32.zip Good Luck!!
