New to mpx200 on orange in the UK

HI All, i just got me a nice new mpx200 (what a totally cool fone) anyway im reading here that some people have upgraded to 2003 version of the software and i have only 2002 version ( how as this is a brand new fone)

can anyone advise me on how to upgrade to 2003 and also let me know what the benefits and possible drawbacks of doing so are..?

Unfortunately there is no official upgrade path to SP2003 for the MPX200. There is however an unofficial ROM but I wouldn't recommend installing this on a new phone, especially if you are within your 14 day period where you can return the phone.

For SP2003 I would probably have gone for the SPV C500 or the upcoming Motorola MPX220 as the network provider will happily give support for these ROM versions :wink:

As for advantagesdisadvantages 2002 is more stable and a

decent T9

2003 has wma ringtones and can run the few .net

apps that are now available.

Personally keep with 2002 or as suggested above go for the

C500 unless you like playing games then mabe not as the

C500 is not a gamers phone due to the multipress hardware

bug :)
