I finally got my phone last Thursday, and then realized Friday evening that the speaker was not working.

Orange have replaced it in quick time but now I am trying to set up Ring tones and alarm sounds etc, I must admit none of the factory ones are rally going to wake you up as they only last about 5 secs.

I have put a .wma file in storageapplication datasounds. When you go to start-->settings-->sounds then the file appears under ring tone and can be used for this but is not available under Alarm Clock.

Is it the file type or location that is stopping me from seeing this?

Hopefully I can get this fixed otherwise I might be late for work tomorrow.....

dont know why, it should show up, try putting the wma in root of the storage card, see if it shows up then

It may be the same as the e200 mate .WMA can only be assigned to ringtones and not other sound events. Bloody shame why they didn't associate .wma with the other events. :?

I have put a .wma file in storageapplication datasounds.

If you try and put the file anywhere else I get the error message "There is not enough space on the disk"

Even though i deleted the original file, and when you try again to put it in the directory above it works.

Also per the guide book with the phone (page 100):

"When the sound file is stored on your phone you can use it for many different things, for example as a ringtone or as an alarm"

Try a hard reset that appears to have sorted out some of the bugs I was having :?Try a hard reset that appears to have sorted out some of the bugs I was having :?

ah, hold on, regular selection of wma's for ringtones doesnt work, i was setting the ringtone using a cab of mine (it's part of a homescreen), which does work, so seems they just arent selectable even though they do work if you change the reg entries.

Shame, i just presumed you could select them. ( i should know better by now)

I can sometimes see WMAs available for ringtones but not events.

Which reg entries Midnight?

HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/Clock .. Sound

then change the value to StorageMy Documentsmysoundfile.wma or whatever dir your wma is at :)

while you're at it, may aswell set your alarm to loop correctly by adding a new string called Script and set the value to ... apr or av0pr if you want it to vibrate aswell

that will leave a 0 second delay between loops, if your alarm didnt wake you up before, it certainly will now
