Guest mrchrisdavies Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 Does anyone know of an ISP provider, or pre-pay style service for GPRS? You can pay £17-25 a month for fast unlimited broadband on your PC, yet check your emails or forum pages twice a day on your mobile, and you'll soon find your montly orange bill creeping up to the £100 mark!!
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 There is no such thing AFAIK. The only people providing GPRS are the mobile network operators, so you have to get a deal from them You could try signing up for a 3G "All You Can Eat" contract (I can't remember, but it's something like £60/month for 1Gb/month) and that will include GPRS use when out of 3G signal. Check the details, but that's how it's been explained to me. There *might* be an issue with using the 5v SIM cards in a 3v handset though, I've never seen a conclusive answer, but it has been raised a few times. I've heard that if you put your (5v) 3G SIM in your Smartphone it *could* do some damage to one or the other... but I know nothing about that sort of thing so have to rely on conflicting posts from other (hopefully) knowledgeable people.
