Does anyone know of an ISP provider, or pre-pay style service for GPRS?

You can pay £17-25 a month for fast unlimited broadband on your PC, yet check your emails or forum pages twice a day on your mobile, and you'll soon find your montly orange bill creeping up to the £100 mark!!

There is no such thing AFAIK.

The only people providing GPRS are the mobile network operators, so you have to get a deal from them

You could try signing up for a 3G "All You Can Eat" contract (I can't remember, but it's something like £60/month for 1Gb/month) and that will include GPRS use when out of 3G signal. Check the details, but that's how it's been explained to me.

There *might* be an issue with using the 5v SIM cards in a 3v handset though, I've never seen a conclusive answer, but it has been raised a few times. I've heard that if you put your (5v) 3G SIM in your Smartphone it *could* do some damage to one or the other... but I know nothing about that sort of thing so have to rely on conflicting posts from other (hopefully) knowledgeable people.
