Guest midnight Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 Well, not quite, but just been tinkering with the phone and noticed that you can use Video files as its ringtone (if you use the 3GP file format). Now, this got me thinking, if this is possible what else can be done. And heres the results, the C500 can play AAC/M4A/M4P files, which is the standard music format for iTunes/iPod. M4A is basically MP4 which is better quality than MP3, and M4P is a protected version of the same file format. And its real simple to do, just rename any M4A/M4P files to 3GP and place on the phone in your Storage/My Documents folder, or Starage Card, or any of the other standard ringtone locations and you can use that file as your ringer, or, alternately you can just open up your file manager and select that file to play it (it plays using IA Album which is pretty neat) (edit: I have just been pointed to a previous solution that involved installing packetvideo player, note, this solution does not require any additional device side software to work, and also works as ringtones)

Guest fultonius Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 When you say you can use video files as ringtones........do you mean it uses the audio part of the video as the ring tone, or does it actually play the movie file, audio & video?
Guest crafty Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 It just plays the audio part of the video.
Guest martin Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 I was on the iTunes site yesterday - cool site 8)
Guest Exploited Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 I've been installing music from the hotsync-function in Windows Media Player 10 to my C500 today - makes you feel you have an iPod I must say :)
