Guest simonbratt99 Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 With games coming out now like duke, doom, wolfenstien, jedi , all those first person type games, for smartphone....... Someone has got to make a mini mouse that works with the phones (system software allowing). Like your PC mouse. Make it an optical mini mouse so itll work fine anywhere, even on your leg. (sat with the misses, watchin (yawn) telly, and your fraggin loosers). Id buy one like a shot. no one in the history of games likes playing a fps with keys only. If somene can get these fps's to run on phones, a cursor cant be that hard. Its gonna happen for sure Im only gutted i cant do it, cos itll be a big money spinner. Lets get some support for this...would you like one?
Guest zippy172 Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 Given the port on the underside is I'm guessing a slave USB socket, that might make things slightly harder to interface... It could be a master/slave too in which case you are looking at sourcing a mouse with mini-B plug and someone to write the code... Entirely possible, so long as the USB interface isn't just acting as a slave device...
Guest simonbratt99 Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 does slave mean data is unidirectional or that theres no power, if its a power issuse, one AAA bat in the mini mouse will do, or a small chargable bat. Actually must be bidirectional because of the syncing. So its a power issue, easily sorted.
Guest Dade Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 The USB socket on the C500 is a 'slave' device. USB connectivity requires a USB Host Controller and a USB Device. The C500 is the USB device so it would require that anything that you connect to the C500 (keyboard, mouse etc.) would have to be the host. This is unlikely to happen anytime soon!
Guest Dade Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 Check out This Link for more info on USB.
Guest simonbratt99 Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 damn it man, you know how to make a man cry. With smartphone getting smarter, (ie like ikkle computers) im sure they will become 'master' devices before long then. As they will benefit for alsorts of addon devices (keyboard, mouse, external hard drive, external screen, card readers) Hang on....what about a bluetooth mouse....... by jove, i think ive cracked it. Very little data needs to be transmitted, and the mouse would be wireless.
Guest pisquee Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 The connector at the base of the SPV, although a slave USB, is also a serial port - so that could be your other answer. (At least they were also serial ports on the original SPV - that's how the clip on camera worked, and how the proposed clip on joystick/games controller thing would have worked if it had actually become a reality.)
Guest Dade Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 Pisquee, Im sorry to say that the connector on the C500 is USB only, no serial here. A few of us did a lot of research into adding clip on or plug in controlers for the C500. There is a device called the N1 from Neonode that has a USB Host. You can plug all sorts into that, digital cameras, hard drives etc!
Guest syrus Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 Why not have a bluetooth mouse?
Guest Dade Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 That would work! There are due to be some bluetooth keyboards coming to market soon.
Guest Digital_Carnage Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 Or instaed of having a joystick or directional buttons the next smartphone could have a roller/tracker ball like navigation. Think that would be pretty cool.
