We think that a lot of us are tired to modify the Homescreen-XML manually or - the majority of Smartphone users - don't even know how to do this!

:arrow: That's why we have designed a new Application names Homescreen Designer

1. What is Homescreen Designer?

The main goal of it is to create very easely new powerful Homescreens without messing around with the XML! Design your Homescreen visually!

2. Which Features are included?

:arrow: Change all Colors to a scheme!

:arrow: Automated export of your new designes Homescreen to your Device with automated activation of it

:arrow: After exporting it, it will automated be saved as .hme-Homescreen file so you can easely distribute it to others!

:arrow: And a lot more!

3. So how does this work?

:arrow: On the left side you will see what's on the device, the right tool is the Homescreen Designer-Application! Capturing made it slowing down a bit - it's faster then in the Video...

:arrow: Time-Format: Possibilty to choose between 22:00 or 10:00 PM

:arrow: Date-Format: Short and Long-Format (Please note: This is using YOUR Short and Long-Format that you have selected on your device. So it will not exactly be the same as in the Designer)

:arrow: Possibility to uninstall a installed plugin (Make sure that your active homescreen is not using the plugin!)

:arrow: Prefix for Profile and Carrier possible

:arrow: Homescreen Designer will ask if you want to overwrite an existing homescreen

Bugfixes:

:arrow: The "Application has generated an exception that could not be handled"-error on startup should now been fixed!

:arrow: Better exactness

:arrow: Error message when wake up PC from sleep or hibernating modus

:arrow: Fixed wrong size '13'

:arrow: some minor bugfixes

6. Where to get Homescreen Designer?

To download Homescreen Designer just visit our Homepage and follow the link to Smartphone.net! The Price is 12$! (Update is free for v.1.0.0-Customers)

To Update: Klick on "Try Product" on Smartphone.net and then uninstall the old version and re-install the new version! Registration-Infos will not be lost, so don't worry! Of course the update is FREE for all who have bought Version 1.0.0

i think this looks pretty good. as someone who would love do make homescreens, but with zero xml knowledge i would certainly like to have a go.

it will be important that the program can support more pugins. there are tons around and most people want lots!!

Looks faintastic - good work Dumdidum - especially for all thoes people with good ideas but scared off by the xml side of making a homescreen. Look forward to seeing LOTS more homescreens emerging!

Any plans to extend support to include the Orange plugins from the E200 or the new (abaxia) ones on the C500?

Also - can the designer handle multi-screen homescreens?

It will definitly work on every Smartphone 2003-Phone, we will test it on Smartphone 2002-Phones too... Should work...

This is what I've been waiting for since 2001 when the 1st MS devices where introduced.

Any ideas on the cost as I wouldn't mind paying for this.

Also any chance of doing extra screens??

and creating the shadow effect like the C500 homescreen?

What it will cost is not yet clear, but it will not be freeware as we put a lot of time into it... I hope you understand this...

Unfortunatly nobody could explain how Orange made the C500-Homescreen - it's only working on this phone and that's why we will not include it...

Thanks for the reply. I dont expect this to be free in the least. I can imagine how much work is involved as I've tried xml with dissasterous results :) Keep it up and be to long in releasing it. Any chance I could beta for ya :wink:

Import of Homescreens will not be supported in the first release as there are so many ways to code a Homescreen that it is not possible to read all these possiblitys...

do you plan on supporting stuff like different selection states, eg. changing background, changing text position on selection etc.? Cos these are essential for advanced homescreen makers.

Homescreen Designer is mainly intended for Non-Experienced Users who don't know how to code the XML-File...

But in next releases there will be a lot more in it...

Generally we want to make the use of the application as easy as possible and that's why we want not to implement too much plugins...

Which HTML-Plugin do you mean? Could you give us a link?

This certainly looks interesting ... kind of hard to judge from just a few screenshots. But it definately looks the part for beginners, and I guess for anyone with a bit of xml experience, it would still be very useful to be able to drag graphics around a screen to fit plugins together, if thats what this app is capable of providing.

Look forward to some kind of demo/test version.
