Hi all,

wondering if you can give us some advice on my lovely new smartphone.

Have been looking about and am wanting to obviously get some nice software on there and some games ect....

Now it seems that i have to unlock the software... I can't seem to find any refrence to doing this on a C500, is it the same as the e200?

Another thing i was wondering as well is there a good source for learning the file structure and locations on the fone for vital or regulary used files.

I was hoping to get my head around the way the fone works and saves files and what i would have to change to change the start menu and add more links or remove/reorganise them.

Thx in advance.

Welcome to the site :)

To application unlock your phone it is the same as the E200 so

click on OTA for more information.

As for getting to grips with the phone, have a look in the FAQ

section as there is a guide designed for the first 48 hours of

having a new phone

Thanks for the advice.

Its been a great help. got my phone soted and some apps installed was very happy and just waiting for my Mini SD card to arrive... a nice 512one to make the phone into my mobile media centre.... haha

only problem i got was that after running the smartphone tools the power toys ones, my phone will not load properly. it sticks in a reboot loop and i cannot get out of it.

I have tried a hard reset but that seems to have no effect could be my timing though.

Anyone any ideas? Thx

UPDATE:-

Turn phone on

Orange river/sunset logo

windows mobile screen

orange led

green led

reset to start

Is the software updating?

I've left it for some time now doing this loop.....

It's sounds like power toys is causing the problem

To hard reset the C500:

Turn phone off

Press and continually hold down both soft keys (black buttons)

Press power button once (don't hold down power button but keep soft keys held)

When menu appears press option 0 to restore factory default.

Phone takes quite a while to reboot :)

Yeah i would try that but the phone aint responding to the power button at the moment.

Only seems to work when i remove the battery....

And that is a bad idea from what i have read...

Should i take the risk...

I would install both the mains AND the battery at the same time and then see if it will let you into the menu.

(EDIT: in fact I've just tried this and I don't think it works with the mains attached :) )

Try getting into the menu with only the battery.

Does you battery still charge ?

BTW here is the topic for C500 reset => CLICK

Are you sure the battery is OK ?

Maybe you should leave the phone to charge for a while and then try again.

Thanks for the help all.

I got the hard reset done and fone is back to original state.

Now i just got to be a little more carful when sorting my phone out.

Any idea why it happend though?

On a side note, this is the best damn phone i have ever used. The screen is incredible as is the camera, although it doesnt hold up to great in the dark. The ease of use is fantastic. Just think like its windows and it all makes sense.

I think i will deffinatly be staying with the spv for a long long time.

The problem can sometimes occur if you use up too much phone memory. I try and change all applications where possible to save to Storage card i.e in Camera Menu-Options under General and Photo.

The phone needs to use the internal flash memory for all your SMS, MMS, Voice Messages, internet history (+others) so it's so worth keeping an eye on the memory levels using spacemaker.

Most people seem to get the fault after attempting to load a cab file because it too will be loaded into phone memory for installation.

The hard reset clears out Storage (IPSM) memory and usually clears the fault :)

Of course any dodgy or incompatible applications won't do your phone any good either. Registry problems too can cause those mini hard resets we all love
