yet another mpx user who needs help.. please.

i have read many of the threads and found similarities to my problems but none exactly like what has happened to me. last night, i left the phone to charge on my home charger overnight. when i woke up the external lcd was constantly staying lit. i didnt even bother to flip open the phone so i just powered off then power on. Now my problems started, the phone wont turn on. Ok so i remove the battery wait a few then put it in again and as soon as it goes in the phone starts itself, boots as normal but as it finishes booting it throws me to a screen that says "insert SIM - emergency use only" and the outside lcd says "insert SIM". So, i thought that maybe the clip broke inside like so many others but that is not the case. From here the phone is completely useless and what is weird is that it shows the 'being charged' symbol on the top right even though it is not. I can plug the phone into my usb and activesync recognizes it and i can even browse the phone. These results are identical to when i take the sim card out completely. It seems to me the phone will not recognize a sim card. i have hard reset twice to no avail and have rebooted countless times.

i am not sure where to go from here as i bought

the phone second hand and have no warranty. Up until now the phone has worked great. Also, i have been running 2003 since it was first made available a few months back and this is not the first time i leave the charger on over night. i am willing to try almost anything if someone might help point me in the right direction..tia

If the phone shows it's charging try checking the connections on the USB port for anything that may be shorting out the terminals.

yes, it does make sense that you suggest i check the port but what i didnt mention was that when i did plug the power in the symbol changed to showed a battery with an exclamation in it instead of the 'receiving charge' symbol. I checked it anyway but it is clear and clean.

Unfortunately i have bigger problems now. I left the phone on to let the battery run out and it appears the phone has completely died. It will not boot. it will not receive a charge. it will not detect in activesync. nothing. I am thinking that the battery might have gone bad..? i really dont know what to think but that is my best guess for now. i am remaining optimistic about it and hope it is just the battery but i am still open to any suggestions.
