RE: C500/Dopod 565

Any one know if MP3 songs can be streamed thru BT Headset?

BTW, it took me 1week to figure out how to turn off GPRS on my Dopod 565 (sorry, it was not in the printed menu I've got :x ). But here it is: Just press and hold the HOME key and there you go!!

Yes it can but the sound is not so good and no stereo.

it also depends on the services your headset has.

This was sort of covered in an earlier thread - could anyone who got this to work post which headset they were using ?

Anyone tried a "stereo" headset yet ?

Ah yes the eternal dream of wireless headphones. Would save me a total of 3 days of my life that i will spend untangling my wires again and again. Anyone know, please?

...there is a bluetooth stereo headset called i-phono by bluetake technology...they work a treat, but are a bit bulky...ideal for the gym!!!

good enough for me... now just need to justify the expense! :)

Just to clarify - have you used the i-phono with a c500 playing MP3s?

Was this without the "dongle" ?

Was the sound stereo or mono ?

Could you explain the method you used to achieve this ?

A lot of posers have tried and failed with other headsets.

Does it work in headset and handsfree mode ?

Do you have to press the headset button after the Mp3 has started playing ?

...sure...

First you pair the headset with the dongle via another device (iPod for example). This then gets the headset functioning. Then you can pair it with your bluetooth enabled smartphone (C500 for example) WITHOUT the dongle. There are only call answer/end and volume controls on the headset, so other functions like song selection are done from the phone.

So, there you are listening to your tunes, the phone rings in your ear, you answer via your headset, take the call, end the call on the headset and your music continues...

I know your method should work OK but a number of posters have reported difficulties with other headsets.

I think the I-phono headset receives stereo via Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) which the C500 does not currently support.

Any MP3 sounds you are receiving are therefore probably only mono (albeit through both earpieces).

Sorry to be a pain but just to check once again that you have achieved this with an ACTUAL C500 playing through an ACTUAL I-phono headset.

How does the headset feel in practice?

The ability to play MP3s over bluetooth is my "Holy Grail" & would be enough to convince me to swap my current MPX200 for a c500 (or SDA derivitive) !

...it definitely works, but I will check the stereo part for you...I haven't really focussed on that as sound is coming through both ears...will let you know...

...as far as I can tell it is stereo...I haven't found the track I was looking for to really test whether sound goes from one ear to the other...think it was Fleetwood Mac (F1 theme)...will let you know....

Cheers.

Last question - how comfortable is the I-phono ? Would it be OK on a train / tube ?

...as I said...it is fairly large, but it is comfortable...ideal for the gym/bike...
