Guest thuun Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 hi there. I can see gta is now out for free downloading now. could it then be posible to port it to a spv ?
Guest beersoft Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 ohh, thats a legal minefield there the game may be free but its not opensource so a direct port can't be done, and a direct ripoff would be questionable as free doesn't equal public domain, so all the graphics sounds and missions are still owned by rockstar. some of the developers where looking into a GTA style game but are playing there cards close to there chests , and something that big would take quite a while and a fair bit of cash to develop later Owen
Guest beersoft Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 the first one was dos based iirc, the language it was in shouldn't matter as you have to re code most of the graphics routines anyway but there being no sourcecode available kinda makes it a bit harder to port. later Owen
Guest digsusdinner Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 If you want GTA, there is a version for Gameboy color.

Guest gravity Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 Yea and you should only play it on gameboy color/advanced devices, since any other devices would make such a thing illegal.
Guest machieru Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 and there is a version for the advance coming 2! :)

Point of order ... surely that's incorrect! I thought it was perfectly legal to download & play a ROM of a game on any type of emulator, as long as you own the original game?
Guest afroahmed Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 well although gta might not be possible, developers might be able to come up with simular games.

Guest gvr Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 and there is a version for the advance coming 2! Finally a game truly worthwhile me actually picking up my GBA!! :)
Guest AvWijk Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Are there already plans for a GBA emulator for smartphone?
Guest ultimasnake Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 i don't think so purely because you need a far greater machine then a smartphone (120mhz) to run a gba emulator... i even had problems with a good gba emulator on my 500mhz machine back in the older days ;0
