Guest danbear Posted September 17, 2004 Report Posted September 17, 2004 Has anyone heard if the A630 will be using Windows? Also, can someone tell me some practical applications for a phone that uses Linux. Why should I be excited about this?
Guest midnight Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 No, A630 isnt Windows Monile (regardless of what some other sites say. And I have no idea why you would be excited by a linux phone, i certainly aint :)
Guest McHale Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 I read on Mobileburn (I think) that Motorola's second PPC Phone Edition will be in the form of the A630... Rumor was once that it was going to be the PPC PE but the issue was the touch screen -Mc
Guest midnight Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 nope, it aint windows and it aint touch screen, its 220 x 176 (same as ms smartphone, but in landscape), uses standard Motorola "PTK" OS, doesnt have sd slot of any kind, and only has 5mb of ram, it doesnt even have a html browser (the keypad is for texting)
Guest danbear Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 sounds like it is just a "Moto Sidekick." That is a little disappointing.
Guest Pigo Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 We should be getting used to motorola dissapointing by now! but a linux based smartphone is something to look forward to. competition always lead to better products as to the developer wants to out-do the opponent. and if I take a look at the E28 E2800+ then I think microsoft is in for some good competition!! Love the phone. touch screen & the works. Pigo
Guest Pigo Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 too bad by the way. The A630 would have been a very nice Smartpone! Pigo

Guest Pigo Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 ok It's not really beautifull but can't say that about any smartphone untill now. Pigo
