QTEK 8060 ROM update and support

Two weeks ago I bought a QTEK 8060 with two 512MB Kingston SD-cards with it. After using it for these two weeks I discovered that kingston SD cards are unwritable in the 8060 ! (the two cards will be read by the phone BUT I am unable to write files on them. However an external card reader on my PC/laptop is able to write files)

After reading the forum it came apparent more users discovered this, so I figured maybe there is a fix for this in a ROM update. Sadly enough because I haven't bought this one direct from an operator I am unable to download ROM updates.

Does anyone know if ROM updates for the QTEK 8060 exists (or support from HTC)? And so have these SD-incompatibilities issues been fixed?

Welcome to the site :)

There is a problem with the phone, it does not like dual layer memory cards. This is a fault with the phone and I do not believe an update will fix this

You need to make sure you use single layer cards.

Sandisk are the most used cards by members here.

Do you (or anyone) know if there are ROM updates available for the phone at all ?

I learned the ROM updates are distrubuted by the telecom operator, but my problem is that I bought the phone without any telco....

Thanks for the link !

In my best swedish ;-) I can see that the article is about the qtek 8080. Does it work (without any fuss/problems) on the 8060 aswell?

I am a bit anxious with ROM updates.

Just rechecked and the 8080 and 8060 apparently are the same phone just a different design.

8080 is the standard design also known as the I-Mate2,E200 etc

for some reason HTC decided to release the 8060 which has the look of the original SPV but with built in camera as with the 8080.

If I try to install the ROM update however the installer exits with a message saying I do not have the correct model..... Seems like Qtek and/or HTC will continue support only for the 8080 model and the 8060 is absolute ?!?!

some time ago here in italy the website where i bought my qtek8080, gave us a new ROM for the 8080, there were two files, but the filename of one of them included also 8060, the other instead 8080. So probably the 8060 rom files works good with your 8060.

Please let me know if you are interested in upgrading the ROm, I will give you the website where to download it!

Bye,

Tiziano
