Guest andylad Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 ok having a bit of trouble putting cab files on my spv e200 through activesync i download the files and try to put them onto accessories and then try to run them from there but to no avail it tells me this "there is no application associated doomspv run the application first and then open the file inside the application" ......how do i put it on my sd card ? i've put files onto my storage card which is 256 mb but once on i can't access them ? i've also tried to put smartexplorer on to with the exe files and it went through all the loading sequences but did not ask me where it wanted to be put on my phone? so i couldn't find it i've tried a search but not found ant thing specific cheers andy
Guest martin Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 When you check using Active Synch-Explore, are the files actually being saved to the SD card ?
Guest andylad Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 yes Martin the files are there when i loook on active synch.... but how do i access them from my phone ?....
Guest martin Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 What type of card do you have ? I suppose it could be the SD card causing the problem but it sounds more like the E200 isn't recognising cabs :? Maybe the association is changed in the keys ? I would be tempted just to hard reset the phone and start from scratch - this will make sure it's not the phone playing up.
Guest andylad Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 the cards a sd 256 mb ....triued the hard reset but still the same
Guest martin Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Have you tried any other cab files ? I've tried downloading Doom from http://www.msmobilenews.com/?cid=550 and it works OK. I copied the file from PC to StorageWindowsStart MenuAccessories. On the SPV I pressed Start and found the accessories folder from the main menu and then clicked Doom icon. Did you anything different ?
Guest andylad Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 all of a sudden there's a sub folder appeared on the storage card with a games menu....looks good...might just work i'll give it a whirl
Guest andylad Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 ok i did exactly what you said went to accesories and there was 4 folders so i clicked on the first one which was setup.xml and goes to a blank screen and on the top of the screen it says untitled ......
Guest martin Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Ahh - you must be unzipping the cab file on the PC to get the setup.xml file. A cab file is a bit like a zip file but you need to copy the original (unzipped) cab file to Accessories and then click on it. The cab will self install on the phone and put all the internal files in the correct places :)
Guest andylad Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 so what do i need to open it with caus at the mo i'm opening them with winrar
Guest martin Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 so what do i need to open it with caus at the mo i'm opening them with winrar Just copy the unzipped (cab) file to the phone and you can select it using the SPV menu (if the file was copied to Accessories) or using an SPV File Manager (if the file was copied to anywhere else i.e SD card). The SPV will recognize it as a cab and will extract the files automatically.
Guest andylad Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 i will give it a go in the morning so a big thank you for all your help ....i new we'd get there eventually.... cheers i owe you a beer
Guest andylad Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 way heey done it !!! you a top feller opened it up in accesories and gave me the option to put it on storage card ....again Martin thanks for your time and patience
Guest martin Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 You're welcome andylad :) Oh, and if you have any problems with Doom then change the EXE filename from mydoomce2 to mydoomce and create a new shortcut. I had to do this with the downloaded file from www.msmobilenews.com
