Guest sheephead Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Hey every1, Well, no sign of champ manager yet... however, i have had a bit of an idea... how about an online soccer manager game designed for smartphones. Key features should include: 1. £60million to build a squad min 16 players 2. Say if i bought Thiery Henry i owened him, noone else 3. An active transfer market updated once a week 4. Weekly Team News 5. Team management 6. Weekly Challenges 7. Original Team names; No, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool etc... 8. Real Cash prize for league/cup winners 9. One team per person 10. Any more ideas open for suggestion Wat you guys think? If i made something like that would you be willing to participate? I am a good html, cgi and php programmer. Excellent in photoshop as well as a superb football knowledge. I am also very modest :) ! Also a key point i nearly forgot victories losses and draws will be decided on a players performance in real life. Each player gets a rating out of 5. the team with the highest overall rating wins and the team with the lowest rating loses. if both teams ratings are within 5points in each other it will be classified as a draw. Well its a bit of a mindboggle now but the idea is in its early stages. I would like feedback if possible to see if it would be a good or bad idea. honest oppinions please. Thanks for reading, take care, Adam
Guest blewer Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Welcome to the site :) Great 1st post Sounds very interesting. Lets see if enough people are willing to participate PS. nice name Adam
Guest sheephead Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 Thanks for that, i am in the early stages of designing the game which will be called "SoccerChamp 04". Which will be built around html. A few questions... is it possible to execute cgi on a smartphone running from a webserver (I dont think there will be any problems). Also i was planning on learning to make smartphone games however i am on a 56k connection meaning i am unable to download the required software. Is there anybody out there who can code games who is willing to help me in this adventure. Thanks, Adam
Guest muff Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 ok, firstly I'd just like to say welcome to the site  just reading through the posts above and thought I'd answer you :) - firstly, cgi is executed at the server end, not the browser end, so yes the smartphone can use sites with cgi - secondly, you can order a DVD from Microsoft that has all the development tools on it here the only other things that stuck out from the original message are :- - the player ratings - that's a lot of players, who does the ratings? and then the data entry? - one team per person is going to be very hard to enforce, people have multiple email addresses etc nowadays good luck with the winding road that is Smartphone development muff
Guest !coolway! Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 Hi, this sounds like a very good idea but if you were tohave real prize money then people would have to pay money and that wouldnt really work i dont think but maybe if you win a league/cup then you get 10 million more money to spend on players?
