Guest AngelOfRage Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 I was wondering does anybody know how these work? are they just a rip off merchant or could you really get a link for a cheap phone? If this link is so good how come it hasn't spread by word of mouth before? for examples see: Ebay Auction 1 Ebay Auction 2
Guest beersoft Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 smells like a scam to me the current going price for a payg C500 is about £190 (and available from the trusty modaco shop) later Owen
Guest Jon_ Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 genereally from what i have seen, those links are links to some form of site were you enter your name on a list and have to wait ot similar to the free ipods thing, basicaly a waste of time and ££
Guest the_ugly_north Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 The first one will provide you a link for £4.95 to then pay £189 for the phone. For people who cannot use Google I suppose. The second one is a well known scheme where people pay £20 to be on a list and then hopefully 20 others sign up to that list (several thousand running) in order to get your 'free' phone. Both prey on peoples niavety and foolishness. TBH if someone reads it properly and then bids then they are letting themselves in for exactly what they bid for. A link......
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 Ebay should police things better to get rid of these rip off merchants. There are too many dodgy phone auctions for me to ever consider trying to obtain a phone from ebay.
Guest ferret Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 It's all about reading the small print, well large print in the second aucion. The winner of this auction WILL NOT receive the Nokia 6260 from me personally but will receive a link via e-mail where you will get the phone for £20This really does work and you will only be paying the winning bid + £20 on the link that you will receive to get it I really worry for people who fall for this.
Guest Posted September 21, 2004 Report Posted September 21, 2004 Who on earth, in the age of the mighty Google, would pay for a weblink? Even if the website *is* legit and not a rip-off matrix - why would you pay money to a third party for a URL? Surely it's quicker to search for the address rather than wait for the end of the auction. I don't understand some people... A fool and thier money!
