Guest Robstobbart Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 Hi, I've been fighting with my C500 trying to connect it with my laptop for the last 24 hours and no joy. You guys seem to know what you're talking about so here's one for you. Firstly I've tried both USB and bluetooth connections, to no avail. USB I have installed the latest Activesync. After plugging in the phone the USB drivers were installed and detected the phone fine. Activesync goes green (connecting) and stays like that... forever. It never actually synchronises. I've tried removing and reinstalling Activesync. I have downloaded the latest Activesync from MS (although I'm sure it's the one I had anyway) and repeated above. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling/updating the USB drivers that install themselves I've tried all the USB holes on my computer, although I know they all work I've can't try another cable as I don't have one. I have 'hard reset' my C500 to make sure it's not rejecting the link somehow. The C500 does draw power from the USB which I presume tells me it's connected properly. Bluetooth: Again, I can't connect via bluetooth at all. I joined the phone and laptop by making the phone detectable and bonding that way (and later the other way around). They detect each other and activesync kicks in. It tries to connect for about 20 seconds and then tells me that it can't because either 1.) The device is not connected properly (it's bluetooth, and it is) 2.) The device is not a smartphone (it damn well is!!!) I have removed and reinstalled the bluetooth drivers I have followed the bluetooth sync guides posted on this forum (which all go fine up until the last 'syncing' phase. I have all the com settings set up as they should be, according to the syncing guides mentioned above. I even tried linking via IR but that doesn't kick in at all and to be honest I don't want to be reduced to using it anyway. Possible solutions: I recently installed SP2, noticed it was a load of **** and the extra "features" were things I already had (firewall, pop-up blocker etc) and uninstalled it. Could this be a problem? Do I need to format and reinstall to get rid of whatever it's done to me? If I do, can I install SP1 from MS website or will it only offer me SP2 directly now? Help very much needed, I love my phone but I want to be able to make full use of it. Thanks in advance. Rob
Guest cybercamel Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 Hiya Welcome to the site, I'm by no means an expert but I can point in you in the right direction. Try HERE for syncing with bluetooth. As for activesync, it might be you current firewall thats causing the problem. But there has been some issues with activesync and the C500, you need to look in the C500 forum to find various threads on the subject. Hope that helps.
Guest Robstobbart Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 Hi cybercamel Thanks for your reply. The bluetooth syncing guide I've seen and followed before but I hadn't spotted the C500 specific forum. I should probably have posted there really  I'm in the middle of formatting etc right now, I just hope it's not a phone hardware issue.
