Dear all,

I just bourght a SPV C500 in Netherlands, after I sync with my computer, I found that it cannot display Chinese Characters. Would anyone tell me how do I view Chinese Characters on this mobile? Thanks in advance.

Dear awarner,

I noticed that it should be okay by changing the registry value of my mobile, howoever, when I try to use rapiconfig.exe to change my registry, it told me access dened. Is there any software that can modify the registry value of my mobile?

Thank you very much.

Because it's Application Lock. You can unlock it from Orange Developper Website.

Also, I think maybe you can refurbish the ROM to Chinese version, but I'm not sure if it's available at the moment.

you don't need Chinese rom to read Chinese. According some of the threads here, I have been able to install a linked Chinese font so that I can read Chinese SMS and WAP pages on my English iMate SP3 (C500)

What is a "linked" font? Can you do this with other languages? I am interested in Arabic support. Would it be the same principal as adding Chinese fonts?

Ditto, I was just about to post the same. I'm sure the Arial font in Windows includes Arabic, so was planning on trying it. But what offsets does one use?

This method is documented in PPCSG.COM forum quite extensively. There is no Chinese input using this method as I think you need Chinese ROM for that. As far as what "linked" is, the registry is set with a pointer from the system font, e.g. nina to another font so I guess what it means is that whatever nina cannot display the "other" font takes over and tries to display it. (I'm no expert in this, so don't quote me). Have fun trying this but make sure you read the full thread in PPCSG as there are some caveats in doing this.
