There are two fancy gadgets I want / need at the moment. An mp3 player, and as my contract is about to run out, a new phone.

I dont have a CD player in the car, so an mp3 player will also be used for car audio, via a headphone to cassette adaptor.

I was thinking of the Orange C500, but have noticed one major drawback, it doesnt have a standard headphone jack. This kinda scuppers my plan, because 1. I wouldnt be able to connect it to my car radio via the tape adaptor, which has a standard headphone jack. 2. I cant get the plug-in earphone to stay in my ears, and would like to use a decent set of quality headphones I already own....again, I wont be able to plug these into the C500.

I also read in another thread from someone who said there is a PSSST sound every 10 seconds or so when playing music...is this true? Suerly not!

Is there a converter from C500 headphone jack to normal headphone jack?

Cheers

David (MP3 Man).

there shouldn't be any funny noise. i have used a spv and a mpx200 for ages as mp3 players and they perform very well. secondly you can easily find an adapter for the phone socket which will allow it to accept normal 3.5mm plugs. fixed (slightly awkward) ones are available from Maplins for about 60p and better ones found on the net.

Dont suppose someone could post a link to where I can buy a converter in the UK? Been searching for C500 headphone jack + converter, and havent had any luck at all.

Since reading this thread, i have also started to notice that annoying 'PSSST' sound when playing music.

What the heck is that?!? It's driving me crazy!

Please tell me it is a software bug that will be fixed because right now i would say that my original SPV has better sound quality than the C500!

This one bug alone is starting to make me regret getting the C500.

I do have the TSSS sound. It's not very prominent while playing mp3s but it's definately annoying in the cabaret-show I converted for my SmartPhone. It's probably less then ideal for watchining movies as well :S

At first I thought I didn't have the sound hiss but I swear it's there :/
