Recurring Alarm - mxip_initdb.vol bug

I have started to get a recurring alarm at 5pm everyday although no alarm is set.

This can be fixed by renaming or deleting the mxip_initdb.vol file.

The C500 does not allow you to do this as far as I can see - file protected.

Any ideas?

Yup. It's unlocked but the C500 does not let you touch this file at all.

If you wanna try the attached, it is a crap little proggy i knocked up for my e200 to let me sort out problems with some dev apps.

Basically, it reads through each and every event which is set on your phone and offers you a choice Delete or not. Select OK to delete the event, otherwise Cancel to leave it.

It is a bit buggy (you have to press the "back" key a few times after the first message box to find the next one ) and it may screw things up (can't think how - unless you delete all events) so use at your own risk...blah..blah..blah..

But it should let you delete the alarms which are set ( a strange "feature" of the alarm on the e200 is that when u set an alarm for 7am , it sets that alarm for the next X number of days) (on mine it seems to be about 7 days), so I guess if that system gets out of whack, you end up with extra alarms. Not sure if they would come back though!?!?!??

Anyway, its attached if you fancy trying this...

Well I got my 1700 alarm spot on time today again :)

MrMagoo I ran your app and it found a few clock.exe thingys at 1700 over the next 3 days. I hope these were the bogus alarms cos I just deleted them. Hopefully there will be silence this time tomorrow!

Note that you do not want to remove mxip_initdb.vol, it contains the databases for contacts, calendar, etal.

Download a program called dbView and look at the entries for the notify events and see if you can find the offender, dbView lets you look at datarecords and delete them.

It is for sure at www.smartphonedn.com, if not other places.

Kenny.

Kennyg, thanks, I have installed dbView just now and my 'mxip_initdb.vol notify events' is empty probabily thanks to MrMagoo's app above. It's 1545 at the moment. I'll let you know if the alarm sounds at 1700. Finger's crossed it won't.

Now he puts up the app. I've lost countless hours trying to fix random alarms on my SPV and missus's E200 - resetting clocks/alarms/soft-resets blah blah!

Nice work though :)
