Finally got round to getting a Smartphone and just like any new wtoy I went a bit mad with it

I've read a few posts in here & I've managed to get my head round a few things but I've still got a couple of questions which I was hoping someone would be kind to point me in the right direction.

First things first there are a few things that I've tried to uninstall, namely themes (.hme files) but for whatever reason they refuse to go so.. 1) Am I missing something and 2) If not is there any way to restore or wipe the phone back to the base system? Ideally I'd like to do a complete wipe so that I can shift and replace some of the apps that Orange have bundled into the build; although I'm guessing that it involves an OEM build kit that only intergraters can get a hold of so it's probably out of the question.

Second question is are there any apps or utilities out there that will let me restructure the Start menu? May seem silly but there is alot of crap in there that I wouldnt use or don't want to see & the apps that I do install get pushed to the back or in the case of ClearVue just get listed in the main section when I'd like to group them together in a folder just for them.

Finally, text msgs.. it's sad but they're very important to me. Is there anyway to 1) sync them into Outlook or something for backups and 2) transfer saved msgs from my old sim card onto my new phone? Orange to the sim to sim copy but I'm guessing whatever format my samsung saved them in, the c500 just can't read it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks!

Regards,

Sam

OK, finally managed to remove the files but there are still a few theme entries in the Add/Remove list on the handset as well as folders for every app I've installed containing single tmp files in the StoragewindowsAppMgr folder.

It's nothing major but it would be nice to be able to keep everything nice & clean.

Join Modaco Plus and you will get The best (and I think only) Start Menu replacement - is such an improvement on the built in one - i think there is a demo available.

There is also an app that converts your SMS into emails, and then they get synced across to Outlook.

check out Monolithix's site at http://www.monolithix.org/SPV_software for software

Cheers mate.. Monolithix is actually down at the minute but I'll check back to it every so often.

Have you any idea on hwo to clean out the Add/Remove list? All the files are got now or I'm assuming it's just a text list within a config file somewhere?!

I found a fix for removing add/remove programs entries after the files have been deleted, its in the articles section called "Major Uninstall Problems - Resolved"(you will have to remove each separately and it can take a long time. Also were the skins you were trying to uninstall being used at the time (were they set to the home screen at the time)? You can restructure your start menu to a certain point, you can rearrange the first 6 entries by editing the registry (PHM Registry Editor - occasionally crashes on C500) or by using Jeyo Personalizer. You can put start menu items into folders by using the built in file explorer or smart explorer by going to Storage/Windows/Start Menu/ it is set out like any normal folder (please note that because of the new security features of the C500 only the built in file explorer can move/delete/copy some of the more sensitive files, these include some of the default start menu items but they can be moved without any damage if you wish to do so 8) ). Lastly, there is an "import sim messages" option in "Menu/Options" in the inbox app on the smartphone, this should work if you stuck your old sim in there, transferred your messages, and then put your new one back in, but bear in mind that alot of phones now use their internal memory to store txts so depending on the model of your old phone there may not be any messages on the sim, i also have never tried this so don't shout at me if it doesn't work ! Hope this helps ! :)
