C500 Pipex Mail Account

Hi chaps!

I'm the proud owner of a new Orange SPV C-500 but I can't get the email set up correctly.

I've specified the following settings:

imap.dsl.pipex.com

aox1234%dsl.pipex.com

password

Download mail headers only, and never automatically check.

But when I go to Send / Receive, I just get 'Connecting' and nothing happens. I've even tried using the Orange setup wizard on their web site with the same settings. I receive a SIM Update text that I authorise, but no account information is added to the phone.

Has anyone else set this phone up to use Pipex mail servers? Can you see if I am doing anything really stupid?

I've never used the imap version but here are my observations of the pop server

i have a dsl pipex account and tried setting it up using the c500 email account wizard.

However, it sets it up as a DIAL account i.e. the servers are set to pop.dial.pipex.com instead of pop.dsl.pipex.com

i've never actually used the pipex email on my spv (my phone totally broke just after this and i had to get a new one!) but when i try downloading my orange.net email it does take ages, so you may need to wait 5 minutes or so!

Thanks for that - as you say, leave it 5 mins! After 'Connecting' for 5 mins, it does continue and send / receive - just need to be patient.

At least I know the settings are correct.

For my dsl account I use pop.dsl.pipex.com which works very well, and quickly
