Slow to find service

I have an mpx200 with ATT wireless in NY and whenever I go into my garage my phone losses service. I am okay with that because there are places that just dont have any service. However, what annoys me is that when I go back outside to where I know there is service, my mpx200 takes a really long time to find a signal after it has lost one... can I do anything to make the mpx200 find service faster??

That's normally a standard time for searching for a signal, if

signal is lost then the phone will poll over a set time to look for the signal. Only other things to do is to try and turn aeroplane mode onoff or to reboot the phone but this would take even longer.
