Guest ricvero Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 hi guys, i just bought a i-mate smartphone 2 yesterday and have been playing with it all day. Unfortunately everytime i try to save anything on the storage card (256mb) it states the following "failed to create New folder" and what ever it is it always says its failed. I would appreciate some assistance Thanks guys Richard
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 Welcome to the site :) Try and format the card with Task Manager from www.binarys.com
Guest ricvero Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 Hi, thank you so much task manager has helped in seeing exactly what i have left and what is happening to my phone. But unfortunately everytime i tried to format the sd card it says an error occured in formating the sd card and it states that the sd card is not present. So i tried to eject the card and placed it back in and still i have the same error. Any ideas??? Thanks Richard
Guest ricvero Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 Hi, i just spoke to the previous owner and they said that they used a 6 in 1 card reader to transfer data on the sd card. This is soo bizzare.... Any ideas Thanks Richard
Guest gvr Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 A complete shot in the dark... Your phone might not be recognising when you've removed you card and so when its reinserted there might be conflicts. An app called 'SD Switch' forces the connection to the SD card to be dropped. You could try this and then try reinserting the card. You can have a look at the app HERE Might work but then again might be complete nonsense, hope it helps!
Guest ricvero Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 nope, it didnt work.. everytime i try copy data over to the sd card using active-sync a pop up appears saying the following : Error Copying file Cannot copy "name of file" : Access denied Make sure your mobile device has sufficent memory, that the file is not set as ready-only, and that you have permission to copy this file type. i havent used the 256mb sd card and i checked the file and its not set as read only... i dont no what to do...
Guest bluesxman Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Does the card have a write-protect switch, and is it set?
Guest ricvero Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 yes and i have turned the sd card lock on and off several times but it still wont allow me to write on the card.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 Have youy tried a differnet card? Which brand are you using?
Guest ricvero Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 i borrowed my mates 32mb MMC card and guess what??? it worked. Thats great but i wonder why it doesnt read the sd card? the previous owner said he always used the card reader to write and read from the card and then used his phone as if it normal. oh well atleast one thing is working...
Guest steveuk99 Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 I know that only certain brands of SD cards will work with my MPx200, perhaps you are having the same problem with your phone. What brand SD are you using? I think Sandisk ones are fine, but others such as Kingston have compatability issues. Hope this helps
Guest ricvero Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 i bought a card reader/writer and it works... i think i might buy a mmc card and see it that works
Guest ricvero Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 the sd card works in the 2 in 1 reader/writer but i still cant store any moives on my external sd card. It limits me only to the internal memory.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 As mentioned above the E200 range of phones ie the smartphone2 has a problem with dual layer SD cards and so you need to use single layer only. The most common brand members use here are made by Sandisk.
