speech recognition in smartphone app

is this possible yet? i've found a potential product called Fonix VoiceIn but they don't seem to have any info or evaluation software on the website though they direct you there from their news articles Fonix website

i basically want to develop a smartphone application that requires the user to speak some words as commands
