Guest srikanth.reddy123 Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 I desperately need some help ! The key which is used to Dial a number (the key that is to the left side of the Action Key) does not work! I have to punch in the number, press the Menu button and then select option 2, every time I need to make a call!!! The phone has been fine for sometime and suddenly developed this very strange problem. To add to my woes my phone now developed a new problem. When the phone is locked it refuses to unlock, no matter what I do. The only thing I can do is pull out the battery and restart it. I would really appreciate some help in resolving these problems.
Guest blewer Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 You probably have a dead dial key. But saying that, this would not effect you unlocking the phone :? Sounds like hard reset time to me. Make sure you back up everything first :)
Guest boysweek Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 The 9 key suddenly stopped working on my E200 and nothing sorted the problem including Hard Reset. Fortunately it is under warranty so it's with HTC being fixed.
Guest gvr Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 I've had a similar problem on my E200 with the 'End Call' key, I can only end a call now by going 'Menu -> End Call'. This is after updating the ROM and doing a Hard Reset, stumped :? Also when you've got a moment srikanth.reddy123, see HERE
Guest srikanth.reddy123 Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Thanks for your help. I guess it is going to be a Hard Reset. But I have something else to say.....The key went dead once before, but after a few days it started working again. But now it has been a while and I never have been able to call using that key. However its not that the key is completely dead. It works once in a while for things like switching on the speakerphone. Its just that I cannot use it for making a call. Could this be a case of dust getting between the button and the circuit board or some kind of an alignment issue??
Guest gvr Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 This sounds more and more like the problem I had. The key will only work when held down for a while ie speakerphone for the make call key and keylock for the end call key. It seems like the sensitivity of the keys has gone which could go either way, software or hardware!!
