Guest tmohammad Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 I have installed activesync 3.7.1 on my work PC running Windows 2000 professional. When I connect my phone.... nothing happens..... The phone starts charging but does not get recognised by the PC!!! What am I doing wrong??? Do I need to load additional drivers? On my home PC running XP Pro, The phone is instantly recognised and activesync loads up. Additionaly, I can explore the phone thru Explorer. Thnaks in advance.
Guest gvr Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 In ActiveSync, if you go into 'File -> Connection Settings', make sure you have the type of connection you're using selected
Guest beerguzzler8518 Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 I use W2K pro also at home and occasionally have the same issue. I just take it off the cradle and put it back on and it seems to be ok. Are you putting it in the cradle during bootup or before all your startup progs have finished loading. Don't think Sync kicks in properly if you are.
Guest Taoski Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 Make sure its not sitting in "Other Devices" under the Device Manager or it wont be "seen" again by the OS
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 Also did you install Activsync before plugging the phone into the PC? if not you need to do the fix in the Articles section.
Guest topratty Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 i have win2000 pro and have never had this problem try turning off any filewall and then plug your phone in if this works just enable the firewall again and make sure its setup for your phone i have both an SPV E100 and a pocket pc i only use 1 at a time connected to the commputer but activesync finds both of them without a problem just plug in the device and away i go
Guest tmohammad Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Thanks for the info. Tried all of these and still no luck. In ActiveSync, When I go into 'File -> Connection Settings' the program tries to connect to my phone. Says that COM1 and COM2 and USB are all available but then says that "Your Device was not detected". In Connection Settings, how do I force it to ask how the connection is established? At the moment it just goes off and does its won thing!!!!! What a pain!!!!!
Guest beerguzzler8518 Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Try closing down windows, unplug the cradle, reboot. shut down, plug in cradle and then boot up again. Bit messy I realise but might be worth a try.
Guest MadTxn Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Unplug it, then hold down left (on the little joypad thingy) while you plug it in.
Guest gvr Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Unplug it, then hold down left (on the little joypad thingy) while you plug it in. what does holding down left do?
Guest MadTxn Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 It tells windows that you're trying to connect. That's what you do when you're upgrading to 2003, and that's what I do when mine won't connect.
Guest tmohammad Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 No, Still does not work. I have updated Win 2000 to SP4 and also ensured that Plug and Play is enabled in my PCs BIOS. Any more ideas?? Thanks in advance.
