Guest dave archer Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 New owner of an SPV C500, new to smartphones. Liking it so far, but there are somethings I'd like to be able to do which it lacks. Wondering if people here have experience and can recommend which apps (pref freeware, but will pay a little if worth it :) ) will let me... - edit Tasks fully (priority, due date, category, note) and stll sync with Outlook - create/edit Notes and sync them with Notes in Outlook - create/edit Excel files and sync them with files on PC Many thanks for any advice, Dave. EDIT - oh, and if there's anything to allow cut/copy/paste on the phone...?
Guest drblow Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 For tasks you acn't do better than Oxios to do list. It syncs with outlook, gives you more features than you could ever need, and has a great homescreen plugin for quick access to your list! There is an app called smartphone notes which syncs with outlook. I don't use it myself, but I believe its quite good. Dunno about excel tho!
Guest crafty Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 Oxios is really good but if you don't fancy paying for tasks software then check out Tasks+ http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDet...productId=93493 For a copy/paste app then check out either x-bar or iMenu.
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 Smartphone Notes is very good, handles hyperlinks for web addresses, email addresses and phone numbers which is really useful Oxios is great The only Excel app is ClearVue AFAIK (although you can convert them using things like Repligo as well) but you can *NOT* edit Word or Excel files on the phone. There just isn't an Excel editor for the phone at all. There is a Java app called Microcalc, which might work (haven't tried it) but it's a bit odd - it stores the spreadsheet in the app somehow so you can't just copy a file in/out of the phone to transfer the sheet.
Guest fozzie Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 Tasks - Oxios ( www.oxios.com ) Notes - SmartphoneNotes ( http://www.syncdata.it/sphnotes.html ) Copy/Paste - iMenu ( http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=112798 ) or Xbar ( http://xetranet.free.fr/xbar2/?lang=eng&pr...roject=xBar%202 ) but with maxh2003's copy, 5 sec copy & paste bits ( http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=94028 ) Don't forget the MoDaCo Plus membership to get the 10% discount :)
Guest dave archer Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Thanks all, Love Oxios, just what I wanted. Like SmartphoneNotes too, but a couple of things it lacks: categories, and the ability to password protect / encypt certain notes - any apps that do either of these?? I'm try to make my phone replace my Palm, and I use the 'private' setting quite a lot. xBar (+ 5 sec mod) I'm awaiting my reg code, looks good. Any help on Excel, or Notes with categories/password/encrypt very much appreciated, cheers, Dave.
