Guest Paul Proctor Posted December 21, 2002 Report Posted December 21, 2002 I've had my SPV for a week now and have to say i am very disappointed with it overall. I upgraded from a Nokia 8310 which was a much better phone in reality. My phone displays almost every bug shown on this forum, plus a few more of its own for good measure. The latest and most annoying bug is that when the screensaver switches off the display, my phone locks up and simply will not respond to anything - even calling it doesn't get a response! I depend on my mobile for business communication, hence upgrading to a phone that is supposed to enable me to communicate better!! in fact, it is almost useless as a business tool as it is so unreliable. This site makes me feel much better as i realise i'm note alone, but are there any actual 'fixes' for the problems highlighted or are we just expected to put up with a woefully substandard product until better software is released? any feedback will be read with great interest!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 21, 2002 Report Posted December 21, 2002 That different bug you mention suggests a faulty handset i'd say? P
Guest HelloDave Posted December 21, 2002 Report Posted December 21, 2002 I've had the above problem before. Occasionally when the SPV's screen turns off it won't come on again until I take the battery out and reboot. The green light still flashes though I think. I don't really want to get a new handset though; it's too much hassle - I can forgive it a lot of things since I never need to be bored again!
Guest spvman Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 I have had a couple of replacement handsets now and i finally have a good one (woohoo!). This time they even sent me a whole new box of kit with it - so i now have 2 of everything except the handset - most usefull! Paul - if your handset has this many faults then you should call orange c/s and ask for a new handset.. stress the point that you rely on your handset for buisiness want a *new* one and not a reconditioned model (as im sure stocks of these are building up fast). You should receive it the next day!!
Guest dhutchison Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 I have to agree with the comments above. It sounds like you have one of the faulty handsets. I have had mine for two weeks and the only bug I had was the lack of a voicemail alert (which was an Orange bug not a SPV fault). My SPV has not locked up once and I've never needed to reboot it.
Guest th0mz Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 dude, what's up with your double-posts? :D Seems like a bad habit.
