Guest TheWeasel Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Hi, I got my C500 developer edition today, but it´s refusing my SIM. When I switch the phone on and enter my PIN, it´s telling me "password wrong". I know for sure that the PIN is correct (I verified it on my old SPV classic). I am using an Austrian "Mobilkom A1" SIM. At first, I thought that the phone is not network unlocked, but now, I am asking myself if that really can be the reason. Actually, the phone is telling me that the PIN is wrong, but it´s not. I asked ORA for assistance, but they didn´t answer yet. Anyone else with similar expiriences with ORA developer handsets? Especially from outside the UK? cheers
Guest vazz Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 I am still waiting for my C500 from ORA. When did you order it? By the way another person is reporting that the ORA delivered phone is SIM Locked. http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...p=453144#453144

AND I hope you get the right charger, because I got a UK charger instead of the Euro charger, as ordered.
Guest Viama Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 See my comments in the thread linked above. Ring ORA, and they will supply an unlock code (you need to give them the IMEI from the box). ..Now to see if it is application unlocked (what are the odds, eh?).

Ring ORA, and they will supply an unlock code (you need to give them the IMEI from the box). ..Now to see if it is application unlocked (what are the odds, eh?). I already called them an hour ago, they told me the same: I will get an unlock code the next hours today by mail, and they will also tell me how to fix the charger issue. Obviousley, they sent a lot of people locked phones with UK chargers instead the unlocked versions... Application locking will be the next issue, for sure! By the way, I am wondering, how to unlock the phone, if they only send me the unlock key. At the moment, when I switch on the phone and type in the SIM PIN, it´s only telling me "Password wrong" - but it´s not wrong. So if it´s not even accepting the correct SIM PIN, how do I come to the screen for the unlock code? I saw in the unlock thread, that there is a special unlock software, which needs to be used in combination with the boot screen, etc...
Guest Viama Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Weasel, the unlock software is only needed because most people can't get the network unlock code. Once you put in the code they supply you with, it will be as if you had run the unlock software.

Once you put in the code they supply you with, it will be as if you had run the unlock software. Right, that should be the standard procedure. But the point is: the handset is not even accepting the PIN-code of the SIM: 1) Enter PIN and press "Done". 3 attempts remaining 2) I enter the correct PIN 3) It tells me: Invalid password. Please try again. (3 attempts remaining). I do this 3 times in total. 4) I get follwoing message: This SIM is currently blocked. Contact your customer service center for the unblock (PUK2) code. 10 attempts remaining. Unblock code: "Input field" New PIN: "Input field" Confirm new PIN: "Input field" It doesn´t look so that the C500 is asking for the network unlock code, because the requested PUK2-code is SIM-related, not network related...
