I believe you can only use MP3s as ringtones with the 2003 OS. From what I've read it isn't worth switching just for that. There is plenty of software about to turn mp3s into .wav files, or you can just use your fave track/intro/whatever. I use Goldwave (download it from www.goldwave.com). It works for me, and best of all its freeeeeeee!

That's where you're wrong... mp3 cannot be set as a ringtone even in WM2003. How do I know? Because I am using WM2003 and I just tried...

WAV files are much larger than mp3 files though... it would be good if we can use mp3 as ringtones...

Know what is even smaller than mp3 or wav??  WMA's........which can be used as ringtones on mpx200 running wm2003.

well in wm2003 u can use wma files. get dbpoweramp and convert from mp3 to wma. its the same quality even smaller than an mp3 file.
