Anyone noticed or is it just me that when i play a midi on the c500 it plays alot better than what they did on the SPV (Classic) and e200 ,I find that they seem to play with full midi support and sound great,Much preferd to wavs and WMA's.

1. Full MIDI support implies that there is a way of using a MIDI controller (keyboard) or sound module (synth) with the phone, i.e. via using a MIDI cable.

2. Why is a MIDI file preferable to an actual recording of whatever sound you want your phone to play? - if they really were better, wouldn't everyone listen to MIDI files and not actual recordings?

MIDI files only contain the data that tells the device what to do to, they don't contain any real recorded sound so the file is so much smaller.

anyone know the specifications of the C500's MIDI hardware?

ie.

max number of channels.

max number of voices/notes

etc.

Your reason for prefering MIDI files to actual recordings is file size when you have a phone with so many spare megabytes in it, and then a few hundred more spare on a card?!

I've owned a Nokia 7650 previously and I must say that the midi-support on the C500 is very limited. Most MIDI-files that play fine on the PC and on my old Nokia are hard to listen to for the musical ear.

I don't know what MIDI-support the C500 actually offers, but it is definitely NOT very functional.

errr, midi files on my C500 play identical to what they do on my pc, at least, the midi files i have do (except airwolf, which is missing the rotor blade sounds (no bad thing))

Do you have any specs on what actual MIDI-support the C500 provides?

I don't know what PC-soundcard you are using, but you surely don't really think it sounds the same? If you want I could send you a couple that, to my view, are really great General Midi-files. The more 'advanced' of those make the difference the clearest.
