Transfering Files

Hi everyone,

I am new here. I just noticed that there's a huge community of smartphone enthusiast as well as developers here. Anyway, I just bought an O2 xPhone recently and having some trouble transfering files (e.g. Mp3, Jpg) from my PC to the smartphone storage card.

You see, after "activesync" both of the devices, everything seems to be linked. I can eventually transfer files into the main storage, but... not into my storage card. Everytime, I drag into the storage card folder or try to delete a file from the folder, it shows error saying:

Cannot delete file XYZ: Access is denied. Make sure your mobile device has sufficent memory, that the file is not set as read-only and that you have permission to copy this file type.

Anyone have any idea what this means? Any idea on how to solve this? Is there any problem with my storage card? Or am I doing the wrong way of transfering files? Please help me....

Thanks in advance....

1) Make sure your files aren't open on the phone (MPX in WMA for example)

2) I think I just read that double layer cards dont work well in these phones. try a different card (recommend Sandisk)

3) Make sure your card is not locked (little switch on side)

4) Welcome to the site!!! :)

It's not used at all....

Don't think that the problem. The phone seems to be able to read the files available in the storage card.... And, I can even run them... But, I can't edit them from the phone or PC... e.g. Delete them, Change Properties and stuff..... Meaning... the storage card is now read-only... But, how come?

I already make sure that it's not locked.....

4) Welcome to the site!!!

Thanks a lot.....

Get the program mentioned above...click File...then Format SD.

You can get the program from Monolithix.org

as stupid as it sounds i had this same problem and found that it was because my system will not let me drag and drop to a mobile device through windows explorer, i have to 'right-click -> copy' the file and then 'right-click -> paste' onto the device

As for the site that made Task Manager go to

www.binarys.com also while you are there

download Smart explorer as well.

Both apps are on my "must have apps" list :)
