Guest FosterJ Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Hi all, I keep getting a 'Notification Error' on my C500 that reads 'Not enough memory to execute application'. I get it when my phone is not even in use. Ive checked my flash storage and its showing 67% free. My 128mb storage card only has 3.48Mb used up. Any thoughts?
Guest Confucious Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Seems strange. If you are getting the message when you are not using the phone then something must be trying to run. Have you looked in Task Manager to see what applications are running? Have you installed any applications? It sounds like you should have plenty of memory so there must be a rogue application that is eating it. Good luck :?
Guest FosterJ Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 When I read your reply confucious it sounded spot on and thought that would resolve it...doh...it didnt!! No apps running in Task Manager and says Free Memory: 1976KB Virus perhaps? Are there scanning softwares about that I could test my phone with?
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Whoah, steady on their pardner! No viruses... yet! Have a look in StorageWindowsStartup... that should list most of the things that start automatically when you turn the phone on. There may be something in there that doesn't show up in Task Manager. I've got: BTHIcon.lnk CardStart.lnk IA_CID_Startup.exe Orange Support.lnk RemoteNotify.lnk SMSClassZero.lnk STK_Service.lnk ussd.lnk Traffic Counter SPE.lnk SmartFilter.lnk xBar 2.0.lnk The last 3 are apps that I've installed, so you might not have them
Guest FosterJ Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Cheers Chris. Thats kinda like the sys tray on the PC? Checked and have the same list as you, minus the last 3 apps. So ive got: BTHIcon.lnk CardStart.lnk IA_CID_Startup.exe Orange Support.lnk RemoteNotify.lnk SMSClassZero.lnk STK_Service.lnk ussd.lnk
Guest Confucious Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Thought I'd have a look in my startup folder - all I've got is: BTHIcon.lnk SmsClassZero.lnk Strange but true....
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 My list was from a C500, so things like IA_CID might not be on other phones (like the E100 for example) So if FosterJ's list is the same (minus the extra apps I've installed) my guess is it's... er, something else? Do you have a 3rd party homescreen installed? Try setting your homescreen back to the default Orange one for a day and see if that fixes it. Some people (myself included) have had problems with some homescreens. After that, if you haven't got much installed on the phone, I'd just do a hard reset If you have loads of toys on the phone already I'd invest in Sprite Backup (worth it anyway) and do a backup first and THEN do a hard reset - if that doesn't fix it you can restore the backup and you've lost nothing
