Guest jwb Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 It was a normal night out. Playin pool with the lads for second place in the league. I pulled my phone from my pocket 20 minutes after I had previously done so in the car to find a broken (cracked) lcd screen. The outside is ok but the inside appears cracked (see pic below). So what do I do just chuck it in the bin or can it be fixed. Pleaee help if you have any suggestions??? This is my 4th SPV I've had an original spv, an E100 an MPX200 and this C500 which has now broken :)c500.jpg
Guest Doombrain Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 f***ing gutted. my advise, get on the orange and make up some cock and bull story.
Guest pisquee Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Basically to anyone out there with an expensive phone on orange get Orange Care!!!
Guest jwb Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 I live in Guernsey Channel Islands. We don't have orange over here. I have to buy my smartphones on Ebay then unlock them to my network so no chance of any Orange care or anything :) I wonder if I can pick up a screen from somewhere? Gutted
Guest Confucious Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 You are unlikely to be able to get a screen. Do you ever come to the UK? I would take it to an Orange shop and ask them if it can be repaired. Or phone them on 07973 100 150 (CS) or Orange accessories line 0500 178 178 (both UK numbers) and ask if they have a repair service - you might have to pick up an Orange payg sim so you can claim you are a customer. Good luck :) PS If you do get it fixed can you post a piccie so we can see your wallpaper without half of it missing
Guest jwb Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Thats a good idea. thanks. I'll call them and see what they say about screen replacement. other than that I guess I've gotta fork out on another one  Heres the screen image by the way :)Elin Grindemyr.jpg
Guest shadamehr Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 AMAZING wallpaper mate - thanks for sharing that with us at least - so what homescreen do you use (layout wise) to get the text to work nicely?
Guest Doombrain Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 i know for a fact EPSON make the displays. i know because i work for them and i also know there's not much chance of getting a new TFT off spares. you could try ringing XMA 01158 464000 or Unicomp 01732 781400 but i very much doubt you'll get one.
Guest jwb Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Thanks for the help doombrain I'll try those numbers :) ................................................................................ The homescreen layout I use is a minimal homescreen that has just the Time, signal, Battery and date in the top right hand corner. Can't remember the name now but if you do a search I'm sure you'll find something suitable in these forums
Guest jwb Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 I'm thinking of selling the phone. If anyone is interested I'll put a post in the For Sale forum Open to offers. Could be useful for someone who has damaged another component or even the casing because the casing etc in in very good condition.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 a new screen + repair will set you back about £120
