Guest toast4tea Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Anyone out there know whats the maximum capacity of mini SD card the SPV C500 can take? I've noticed that on some sites selling minis it says check you handset for compatibility. However can't find any mention of maximum allowable or card compatibility issues on Orange or the manufacture's site. Just wanna be sure before I fork out on a 512Mb or 1Gb (if I can get one)
Guest Confucious Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 People have been using 512Mb cards I believe succesfully and 1Gb cards are not out yet. There is no reason why 1Gb or even bigger ones shouldn't work when they are made AFAIK.
Guest Exploited Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 I think the maximum size for miniSD-addressing will be either 2 or 4 GB, but since those cards don't exist yet, this won't be an issue for the next several months. :)
Guest the_ugly_north Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 I think the maximum size for miniSD-addressing will be either 2 or 4 GB, but since those cards don't exist yet, this won't be an issue for the next several months. :) Mini-SD uses FAT32 format. As such the maximum size for addressing is considerably larger than 2-4 Gb.....
Guest Confucious Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 FAT32 can only spport up to 32Gb so what happens hen we get Mini-SD cards greater than 32GB?
Guest squall Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 by the time we get there im sure there will be a way. chances are we will have a new standard by the time we get there anyway
Guest the_ugly_north Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 FAT32 can only spport up to 32Gb so what happens hen we get Mini-SD cards greater than 32GB? My PC has 120Gb HDD and uses FAT32 so that blows that theory............ I think you will find that FAT will support upto 32Gb (FAT is FAT16). FAT32 supports 2 to the power of 32b  Look here
Guest Confucious Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I was confused - Windows XP can only format FAT32 partitions up to 32Gb (16Kb Clusters) although it can mount them of any size. Such a relief to know we could potentially get MiniSD cards greater than 32Gb. I can sleep easier knowing that ^_^
Guest Pigo Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 by the time that is evolved. we will have a new code system that allows us to save DVD's on a 128 Mb card ^_^ Pigo P.S. 2 STARS!!!!! yeah
Guest Confucious Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 DVD's will be obsolete and we will be streming films live over 5G 8-[
