Guest shadamehr Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 I have a C500 SPV, nicely unlocked and configured for O2. I have set my themes throughout, to the excellent Longhorn Pro theme, including incoming calls etc. When I boot up my phone however, and I get the usual PIN code request, the usual Orange Banner Bar appears across the top of this dialogue, just underneath the Battery and Indicator Bar at the top of my phone. (An orange coloured patterned bar or banner, with the word Orange in it itself) It also appears from time to time for other things. What I am wondering is, is there any way to replace this, or is it hard coded into ROM? If anyone knows how to change it to something else, please let me know. Thanks all.
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Not sure what you mean. Can you get some screenshots? The C500 has IA Caller ID built in, which puts an orange bar across the bottom of the screen when a call comes in, but I don't get this on anything else. When I put Device Lock on I just get a grey "Tray" across the top that says "Password" on the left, and has the battery and signal meters on it. There's no orange on the screen at all, and no reference to Orange either.
Guest BigBlue007 Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 You will need a registry editor installed on your device. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/SHELL/RAI. In there look for the keys :MSCDIAL, :MSCPROG and :MSBRANDINGS. Within these Keys you will find a key called "BannerImage". The default picture in these three keys is ms_mobile.gif, which is the orange logo you want to remove. MSCDIAL is the logo in the dial screen, MSCPROG is somewhere else (don't recall it right now), and MSBRANDINGS is the logo on the page where you enter your PIN. Replace it with any GIF image you want. Note that the image must have the same dimensions than this ms_mobile.gif, which is 176x20 pixels. You can find some nice logos here (probably you need to sign up for the board).
Guest crafty Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 or you can just delete the value data completely so no image displays at all :)
Guest shadamehr Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 QUALITY Guys - just quality - cheers! For some reason, the Longhorn Screen by AdrianFrst, amends the Dial, and the Prog, entry, but not the Branding one, which is the one shown at startup on PIN code request. I just created a 176x20 gif file, with a blue patterned background and the white text O2 - UK across it, and saved this to the smartweaks folder on my phone, where other such stuff exists. Then I found the registry key after installing PHM Editor (it's BRANDING singular I think, not plural), and changed this to point to the new file. Then I shut down, rebooted, and as I type this, looked at my phone, and there is a lovely discreet blue O2 banner at my PIN code screen instead - QUALITY GUYS - Cheers!!!
Guest shadamehr Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 And for Chris, If you were still wondering what I meant and hadn't worked it out yet, I meant the PIN code request screen, which shows when you boot up your phone, if you have set a PIN code request on your SIM...
Guest moonlanding Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 shadamehr, how did you configure your phone for O2? Have you got e-mail and internet acces? I have tried all the settings I can find with no luck.

Guest deezer-d Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Is it possible to remove the orange bar at the bottom of the screen when a call comes in?
Guest crafty Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 Thats the (very annoying) default photo - you need to unassign it in the caller id app, Menu>OptionsSet Default Photos

Guest deezer-d Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Caller ID is under the Orange folder. The default Orange photo keeps returning every time I restart my phone. Is there a way to remove this permenantly?

Guest rizzles Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 Yeah i have done everything with the registry and changed the default photo in ia caller. but the only orange banner that remains is the one that you get when you get an incoming call. the default photo in ia caller returns to the orange banner after a reset. Guest shadamehr Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 You haven't changed ALL the images listed in the Registry mate then... I kind of recall what you mean, cos I had this too, but changing ALL correct registry entries changed this - bear in mind, I CREATED custom banners for O2 instead... BUT, having said that, every now and then, for some stupid reason, my phone keeps defaulting to the ORANGE banner, for DIALLING a number, for no reason at all... Mmmm
Guest rizzles Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 Have definately deleted every entry in registry, i have checked lots of times. its starting to really do my head in. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest crafty Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 yeah it's annoying - i've found that assigning a blank pic as the default photo stops the orange bar from coming back....
Guest rizzles Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 how do you mean crafty? how do i go about doing that? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest crafty Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 I mean literally a blank image file. Unzip the attached, put it somewhere on your phone and then set it as the default photo in the caller id app - this will stop the Orange bar from coming back :lol:Blank.zip
Guest discostu Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 I'm using samrtione to edit the registry, but it doesn't show any entries other than default under the local_machine list. Can you recommend a program to do this please.
