Guest rich Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Hi all, Total smartphone newbie here. I have an MPX200 from ATT with Smartphone 2002 OS. Does anyone know if an upgrade to Smartphone 2003 is available for purchase? ATT is not able to tell me anything. TIA, Rich
Guest Disco Stu Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Hi Rich There was a WM2003 ROM upgrade for the MPx200, but I don't know if you can still get it. I believe it was an illegal release. Whatever, from what I've read I wouldn't advise trying to install it. The MPx200 doesn't have the onboard memory to support it and you'll lose some functions. For more on this have a look in your phone's section on this forum.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Also if you do buy it you are being ripped off as the the hacked 2003 rom was free all the time it was available from msmobiles before it was withdrawn for legal reasons. Moved to the MPX200 section
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 Things to note about the 2003 update There is no performance increase, and if you use MMS and T9 you will lose them. :)
Guest Pigo Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 Yeah that's true. I have the upgrade (both first and second) but I've been afraid to install it as I think my phone has had it's best days. so not a good thing to do if your gonna send it to Motorola. I don't use MMS. but what's wrong with the T9 imput? I've heard a lot of things about the battery life. some claim up to 2/3 times better then before and others claim it's the same or worse. any clairity on that? Pigo
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 Battery life no real difference and T9 is a real pain to use. Also if you have Dutch T9 now you will lose it with the update.
